Held atop the trendy Empire Hotel rooftop, Australian-born designer Anna Coroneo showcased her Spring 2012 collection “Sunrise:Sunset.” Unlike other events this season, Coroneo took on a different display approach. Upon walking out of the penthouse floor elevator, I was immediately greeted by the designer herself. A handful of pieces were neatly perched on a mobile rack, as if shopping at Coroneo’s store. A model, obviously sporting the designer’s creation, was nearby. Between the live musicians, cosmopolitan-clad bar and breathtaking Manhattan views, Anna Coroneo’s presentation was the perfect, relaxed setting. Additionally, the Spring ’12 line resembled just the same.
While “Sunshine” tackles vibrant coral, lemon and orange, “Sunset” took on intense jewel tones including ocean blue, royal purple, magenta and fuchsia. Coroneo, an abstract artist, translated her oil and acrylic works of art into her clothing – literally. Beautiful brush strokes can be seen throughout dresses, tops and swimwear. The designer’s Spring ’12 line exudes a colorful liveliness. The beach-chic lifestyle of Sydney is infused with the fast and flirtatious energy of New York, Coroneo’s current home-base. Whether a day at sea or walking the city streets, Anna Coroneo is essential for any woman!
