Summary: Many designers chose to channel different eras in their spring ’12 collection, but the Swinging Sixties were unarguably in the arms of Stacey Bendet for Alice + Olivia. The feisty designer’s collection was a playful romp through a technicolor garden where the clothes created a lively and vibrant scene. Suburban-looking patio furniture and gazebos adorned the venue and models took periodic walks around the grid, to show off the movement of the pieces.
Silhouettes mostly included Bendet’s signature ultra-feminine party dress aesthetic, though a few statement-making separates like vertically striped black and white pants, palazzo pants and snug little cardigans also rsvp’d to the fete. Each look was styled from head to toe, some including Old Hollywood movie star straw hats and all including the drool-worthy Alice + Olivia heels that glittered on the astro-turf like mini disco balls. In a time when we’re all obsessed with “Mad Men”- inspired fashion, Bendet chose to highlight the less serious side by outfitting the days off and nights out of the stylish women of the era with looks that could be easily translated to today.
