Summary: This season, Mark Badgley and James Misckha are celebrating spring with a collection that blooms, both in print and structure. Working strongly with elements of embellishment and texture, the Badgley Mischka spring collection is sprinkled with fuchsia crystal embellishments, tiered bodices that expand and encircle the waist, and giant bows worked into the fabric of the garments, boldly set within the tops of blouses or hips of dresses.
Their palate is eye-catching, embracing a host of citrus alongside vivid fuchsias and aquamarines. Mixed in with the Badgley Mischka label was their Mark and James collection, which was comprised of equally bright but structurally more demure looks like a tangerine linen tank with itsy-bitsy pink and tangerine sequin shorts. Mark and James embraces a more youthful aesthetic, the integration of which into this show presented a full day-to-evening experience proving that the Badgley Mischka woman can, and will, happily stand out no matter what she’s wearing.
Exuberantly designed, this collection shows a witty employ of Spring’s typical foray into brights and florals. By saturating their color palate and structurally resembling their garments to physically reflect the feminine dalliances that affect warm-weather design, they’ve produced a standout collection that would make any woman feel inimitably special. If Badgley and Mischka want me to wear giant crystallized bows and ruffles that could swallow a room, I’m in.
