September 27, 2011 • Blahnik Tonic, Fashion Blog, Industry, Shopping

Fall is one of the all time best seasons for fashion. Coats, sweaters and pencil skirts come back into our closets as the leaves start to change, providing us with tons of new wardrobe options for both day and night. And perhaps the best part of transitioning back into fall fashion is the fabulous fall footwear. Luckily, for the second year in a row, Saks Fifth Avenue has teamed up with Footwear News for the second time to carefully edit and hand pick 25 of the season’s Hottest Heels of the Year and deliver them to you!

A selection of the Sexy Shoes finalists at Saks Fifth Avenue

The 2011 Sexy Shoes contest features 25 currently coveted looks in footwear — from strappy to slip on, platform to peep toe – and allows YOU the lucky reader to vote on which style is the season’s best. Vote for your favorite look and you’ll be eligible to win a $10,000 shopping spree from Saks (I almost fainted when I typed that) which you can use to add any number of seriously sexy shoes to your fall wardrobe.

We were on hand early this morning to get the first peek of the Sexy Shoes finalists at the “10022-SHOE” boutique on the 8th floor of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Sexy Shoes finalists feature a broad range of top shoe designers, selected by the editors of FN, including B Brian Atwood, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Givenchy, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino and Stuart Weitzman.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA / Navy satin and mesh ankle boot with beaded chiffon and feather details ($1,095, left) and GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI / Jeweled satin sandal with metal-encased stiletto ($895)

NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD / Metallic emerald python sandal ($1,495, left), MANOLO BLAHNIK / Satin slingback pump with rabbit fur details ($835)

The shoes were picked with both the range of designers and the diversity of styles in mind, resulting in a completely well-rounded selection. The various styles boast fabrics such as lush leather, rich suede or slinky skins. They also feature masterfully-crafted embellishments from crystals to feathers to fur and come in a palette ranging from black to metallic to jewel tones. All in all, the finalists represent a definitive “something for everyone” footwear fantasy.

Consumers can vote daily (!) and be entered to win the Sexy Shoes Grand Prize of a $10,000 Saks Fifth Avenue shopping spree. The Second Prize is a $1,500 Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Card. Voting is easy and requires no purchase.

MIU MIU / Glitter peep-toe pump with crystal-encrusted heel ($1,195)

The 2011 Sexy Shoes finalists will be on view and on sale at Saks’ “10022-SHOE” boutique in New York and 11 other Saks locations nationwide.  Select Sexy Shoes finalists will also be available for purchase on

SERGIO ROSSI / Dusk suede pump with blossom detail ($895)

“We are excited about the collaboration with Footwear News on the Sexy Shoes program for the second year,” Ron Frasch, President and Chief Merchandising Officer of Saks Fifth Avenue said of the contest.  “It will be interesting to see who the winner is amongst some of the most prestigious shoe designers.  The online contest is a great way to for us to be inclusive and engage everyone in the selection process.  This program will also give shoe fans a good overview of the range of shoes available at Saks Fifth Avenue.”
