Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue held the stage for a chic addition to the upcoming Fall 2011 line up: Lafayette 148 New York. The show opened with a traditional Indian grab, thereby setting the tone of the show to come. Heavily influenced by a trip to India four months ago, the brand’s designer and CFDA member Edward Wilkerson took that inspiration and applied it to his collection. The slight gold embellishments combined with sheer fabrics and several different textures, brought a finished and polished look to the collection. “Its rich color and ornate spirit seep through in gorgeous fashion,” Wilkerson said.
Many of the looks exhibited the minimalist look luxury that one would come to expect from the Lafayette 148 New York line. “Cinching the belt, creating that waist and [the addition of] the fur bags add a luxe look to the collection,” Wilkerson said, explained some of the ensembles.
The designer was even on-hand after the show to appease the crowd with a few pictures and light-hearted conversation… and maybe even point some eager customers to the pieces they just saw on the runway.
