This scoop was just too juicy for us to pass up! Jewelry designer Alexis Bittar (who we at SCS know and love), was allegedly miffed the other day when he happened to spot a piece in the window of Dash – the Kardashian’s boutique – that looked curiously similar to his one of own designs.
Bittar told The New York Post, “I saw that Kim’s pieces [for her Belle Noel jewelry line] were very similar to mine... The tricky thing is that we have sent pieces to Kim in the past to wear, so now I have told my staff we cannot send anything to her. She was definitely influenced by my designs without a doubt.” So maybe imitation isn’t the best form of flattery.
Bittar added to The Post that he would not be following up with legal action, though he did make sure to launch a verbal slugger at the Kardashians’ creative team, “[Kim] might be so far removed from it (the design process), and her designers just go shopping and knock things off. But we are definitely not lending to Kim any more, she has been barred.”
Kim’s camp did release a statement saying that any resemblance between her line and Bittar’s is “purely coincidental.” Yeah, right. Well luckily, Bittar’s designs are respectable fine jewelry pieces that are elegantly crafted from legitimate metals and gems. Dash’s wares are……well, not. We respect Bittar for taking the higher road in this situation and respect him even more for knowing the difference between his target demographic, and hers.
