Lagerfeld's new collection, Monique Lhuiller cleans up the tables and Chanel has a new book cover

Karl Lagerfeld Brings in More Collections

We just got over the heartbreak of the Lagerfeld’s collection for Macy’s so this could be just the thing to help us restore our faith in the designer… or send us reeling over the edge. Karl Lagerfeld is planning on releasing a new rock ’n’ roll-flavored (aptly named) Karl collection next year. The 100-piece women’s line, priced to retail from about $95 to $450, will make its debut on Net-a-Porter via an exclusive global distribution partnership, with sales on to come onstream Feb. 28.

A launch event is planned on Jan. 25 during Paris Couture Week, at which the designer will also unveil to the trade a new signature collection, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, to be produced and distributed under a licensing pact with Italy’s Ittierre SpA, with first deliveries for the fall-winter 2012 season.

Assouline Covers Chanel

Assouline and Chanel are offering a very special limited edition, hand-made slipcase in the fashion house’s iconic tweed for the publisher’s three-book set on Chanel fashion, jewelry and perfumes. Only 30 tweed slipcovers will be available, and the exclusivity comes at a price. Each is priced at $2,500, including the books by François Baudot and Françoise Aveline, and sold at Assouline as well as Neiman Marcus. For $2,500, you might as well just get a Chanel quilted handbag and save yourself the trouble.

Monique Lhuiller’s New Tableware

Monique Lhuillier is scheduled to introduce a crystal and tableware collection in partnership with Waterford at the New York Tabletop show on Tuesday. The Monique Lhuillier Waterford collection includes fine china, crystal stemware, barware, silver and metal giftware. The partnership replaces an existing line of Monique Lhuillier tabletop designs with Royal Doulton, which will be phased out of retail in the first quarter of 2012. Both Waterford and Royal Doulton are owned by Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton and the change elevates the Monique Lhuillier product to a higher price point. The new Waterford collection, which will be in stores in January, will retail from $18 to $1,500.
