British Vogue was scolded by New York Magazine in their ‘The Best and Worst of October Fashion Magazines” feature, which true to name, highlights the most notable and most infamous fashion spreads of each month. NY Mag pulled an “smh” on the U.K. tome, which featured achingly talented singer Adele under the banner of ‘Bombshell’, yet neglected to shoot her in a lighting scheme or an outfit that highlighted her voluptuous curves. They make that point that, just because the singer’s voice has the smoky undertones of a film noir, does not mean her photo shoots need to be pigeon-holed as such. We have to agree.
So imagine the satisfaction that came from seeing Adele on the November cover of the U.K.’s version of Cosmpolitan, radiant against a punchy pink background and clad in (gasp!) leopard print! This is such a jubilant far cry from the gorgeous singer’s usual uniform of shapeless black sheaths that keep her so covered up, we’ve heard holy women “tsk!” The lace and the print and figure-hugging fabric make Adele every bit the sultry siren that her voice has destined her to be. She is, shall we say, Joan Halloway-esque? And now that we’ve got her we’re not letting her go! Thank you Cosmo U.K. for showing us everything this true beauty has to offer!
