Beauty Buzz. Madonna Brings in “Truth or Dare”

Just yesterday, SCS reported that Madonna would be taking on a new business venture, making a line aimed at an older crowd (guess she realized that her aim at Material Girl was a little too young for those girls to remember her).  But it looks like she was further along than one thought because the first fragrance bottle is already out!

The signature scent will be called “Truth or Dare”. “I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me, but that other people could relate to as well,” Madonna told WWD on Thursday. “Something classical and timeless and yet modern…Something honest and yet daring — hence the name Truth or Dare.”

“There’s nobody bigger than Madonna, and she’s waited this long to do it, so we couldn’t be happier,” said Catherine Walsh, senior vice president of American brands, who said the scent is intended to be a signature scent for Madonna. “Truth or Dare is, and will become, a category. This is her fragrance. She has created this fragrance.”

Eaux de parfum in two sizes — 50 ml. for $55 and 75 ml. for $68 — will be sold in the U.S. A 30-ml. edp will be sold internationally. The line also includes a body lotion, $28, and shower gel, $25. The scent is, in the U.S., a Macy’s exclusive and will hit counters March 26. It will roll out to international markets beginning in May, adding up to approximately 20,000 doors worldwide, including the U.K., France, Asia, the Middle East and travel retail.
