Many women dream of having Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz in their living room. Laughing and gesturing while clutching a glass of Veuve Clicquot, Elbaz would be the most gracious house guest revealing the trials and tribulations behind his last runway show and showing his hostess sketches of upcoming lines before personally fitting her into one of the pieces from the current Lanvin line. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?……
Yes but before we all drift off into Elbaz Land, the reality of the situation is that’s never going to happen. That’s the bad news. The good news is, we now have a wonderful upcoming alternative in the form of Elbaz’s new book he’s in the process of penning. If we can’t have the creative genius behind the timelessly feminine and elegant line on our couches personally, we can at least curl up with his thoughts, stories and sketches chronicling the entire design and production process of a typical Lanvin collection.
The book, which has yet to be named, is set for publication early next year, and is reportedly slated for a whopping 700 pages of text and photos. But in his signature sense of whimsy, Elbaz has already promised that some of the pages will be blank, because “that is how I start every day,” he explained. Our Veuve is already chilling in the fridge!
