We all know about the biggest shopping day of the year Black Friday and its companion Cyber Monday… but what many don’t know about is a growing movement called Small Business Saturday. Many small retailers need your support, especially during high traffic shopping times like this.
In support of this day, I stopped by two local Chicago stores:
Hazel is the clothing and accessories store for up-and-coming designers. Located in Lincoln Square, this store carries several designers from all around the United States, though making a definitive effort to make sure all the pieces are made in America. The vibe has a rustic, yet feminine feel to all of the pieces. Hazel contains both men and womens’ clothing at reasonable prices. If you’re looking for your next first date outfit, or a show-stopping after hours ensemble without breaking your wallet (or looking like you tried to hard), this is the place you want to be. Just be easy, breezy, cool girls (and guys) in a snap!
I ended up grabbing a cobalt tunic dress with ruched sleeves. Fun fact: it came with a nice orange skinny belt to add even more color to it. Score!

Another place for great tops and dresses would be Bazar, located on the north side right off the Paulina Brown line CTA stop. All of the pieces in this store are extremely affordable, not to mention easy to find. Walking into the store, one can see that all the pieces are arranged by color, with new arrivals right up front. The store also had many different jewelry pieces to choose from, including shoes. I loved each and every piece, especially the dresses. Through all my searching, I didn’t see anything over $100! This is a great spot to pick up a last minute outfit or birthday gift for a friend.
There were lots of trinkets to pick up here! I got a sleeveless navy and cream polka dot dress, a black metal peacock, and a black tulip skirt with a lace trim for all under $80! How can you beat that? (Quick answer: you can’t!)
