Vena Cava selling office furniture, Vogue Archives launches subscriptions with a hefty price tage and WWD has its annual Beauty Awards

Vena Cava Could Really Be in Trouble

It was reported from the Daily Front Row that Vena Cava is selling off all their office furniture. It was reported a few weeks ago that Vena Cava was in serious trouble and could shutter because of a major potential investor backing out of their deal. A company spokesperson declined to comment on the sale but did confirm that the brand is still in dire financial straits and is in the middle of talks with possible backers.  There has been no word if they are just selling off pieces, moving to a new (cheaper) location … or hopefully, they’re just re-decorating?

Vogue Archives are Gonna Cost You

Wanted every copy of Vogue every made? Now’s your chance! The Vogue Archives, starting with the first issue in 1892, are now available online but the subscription is a little steep. If you want a one year subscription, the annual price is $1,575. Vogue has said that in 2012 a limited version of this resource will be available to the magazine’s subscribers… but for now, unless you have $1,600, you’re just going to have to pick up one from your local newsstand for less than $10.

WWD Beauty Inc Awards Brings Out Fashion

The Four Seasons restaurant in Manhattan was filled to the brim with beauty industry executives who gathered for the tenth annual WWD Beauty Inc Awards breakfast on Thursday, which hit an emotional high note early in the program when William Lauder, executive chairman of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., accepted the first Corporate Social Responsibility Award on behalf of his recently deceased mother, Evelyn. “It’s a bittersweet honor,” said William Lauder. “My mother was a great influence to many of us. The example she set, the standard she set for us and her inspiration is something that will keep us all motivated.”

WWD also awarded Tom Ford and Salma Hayek with Launch of the Year at their 2011 Beauty Inc Awards. Other winners included Neutrogena and Birchbox for digital innovation and Duane Reade and Macy’s for Retailer of the Year.
