Everyone’s buzzing about the premiere of Project Runway All-Stars, which debuts tomorrow on Lifetime. And while the designer’s faces are all familiar from seasons past, the faces of the judges are all noticeably not (designers Georgina Chapman of Marchesa and Isaac Mizrahi will be filling Michael Kors and Nina Garcia’s fabulous shoes). But also, the season has done away with host Heidi Klum (replaced by Angela Lindvall), and most importantly, Tim Gunn! And while we’re sure Marie Claire editor Joanna Coles will be a suitable mentor for the already seasoned designers (yet without nearly as many sound bytes), we were worried about what Tim would be doing with all this new found free time.
Luckily, his superb taste and ability to charm the pants off us won’t be put to waste. Gunn will be one of five co-hosts on a daytime talk show called The Revolution, debuting January 16 on ABC. The weeklong health- and lifestyle-focused show will chart the journey of a woman’s five-month-long weight-loss program, ending in a reveal of her transformation in every Friday’s episode. Tim is, of course, providing style and fashion advice to the show’s subjects, and gives the subjects a “goal” outfit on the first day to get them started. Says Gunn, “Sure, we will push the buttons in terms of a reality wake-up call, but we’re not mean-spirited. You’ll never see us talking behind someone’s back in snarky, unsupportive way.” Would we watch a show like this if Gunn weren’t featured on it? Probably not. Will we watch it since he is? Let’s not kid ourselves here.
