Well, that was fast! Last week, we pulled the curtain back from the first looks of the highly anticipated Jason Wu for Target collection. And now thanks to Facebook, Target has released the full lookbook in one of their Target Style albums. Happy Tuesday, indeed! The sweet little capsule collection of 53 separates, dresses and accessories came to life from Wu’s appreciation for the genre of French New Wave films and, in particular, the French actresses Anna Karina and Jean Seberg. The result is an aesthetic of Parisian prep that’s half coquettish and half Lolita. “I wanted the collection to have a sophisticated voice with an American sportswear spin,” Wu told the New York Post. “The goal was to work with new materials and techniques that gave the collection an expensive look and feel,” says Wu who noted that his favorite piece is the black faille dress with a nude patent belt.
Target seems just as satisfied with the partnership involving the Taiwanese designer, who launched his first eponymous line in 2006 and gained global stardom from dressing The First Lady Michelle Obama for the 2009 inaugural ball. “Jason is one of the most influential designers in the fashion industry today,” says Trish Adams, senior vice president of apparel and accessories at Target. “We knew that guests would love finding his chic signature style at Target. His designs are perfectly suited for a springtime collection.” The collection drops in stores and online on February 5. And to put us all in the springtime spirit, Target has released a little eye candy for our viewing pleasure. So grab a minute a check out the Jason Wu for Target Lookbook on Facebook, and let’s all get excited for next month!
