It is with great pleasure Second City Style introduces you to a new New York based jewelry line…Jean & Merce. In fact, the site just launched a few days ago! Jean Won is the designer and Merce is her adorable Brussels Griffon. Jean & Merce jewelry is inspired by the Super Women of our generation. Jean says, “we investigated many lifestyles of Super Women in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s and found that there was a distinctive need that tied these generations together – the need fashion to work for them from day to night.”
With her roots in architecture, Jean Won’s debut jewelry collection Jean & Merce explores materiality, form and composition. Won transforms her love of collage, weaving and knotting all things industrial and feminine into a 12 category collection featuring brass chains, gold vermeil, fabrics, string, chunky rough stones to more delicate precious and semi precious stones.
Won’s debut collection features flirty bracelets, statement necklaces and hair accessories inspired by the style of Art Nouveau and collection names inspired by old Hollywood icons. Jean weaves her signature color rose through her collection and adheres to a vintage infused palette consisting of ambers, rich greens, blacks and grey. The attention to detail including the trademark tiny “dog tag” along with the superbly beautiful packaging will make you wonder how she does it!
The Jean & Merce collection was designed with transition in mind, the pieces have an ability to add fun sparkle to a t-shirt and jeans, then seamlessly transition to a glam look when styled with an evening gown. Won envisioned Jean & Merce Jewelry to be accessible to all and has committed to keeping her first collection priced under $200. Jean says, “Our goal is to create beautiful, hand crafted pieces at an accessible price and this is what makes our product unique in its competitive landscape.”.
Jean & Merce will host a trunk show on February 18th, 2012 at89 Murray St, #12D in New York City from 1-5pm. Enjoy 20% off and post fashion week desserts and drinks. Shop items from the website as well as the new spring/summer collection.
