Summary: Brandon Sun‘s Fall 2012 Collection presented at the Box at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, was entitled “Silent Assassins” based on the Kung-Fu films he watched growing up. With a tale of peaceful ferocity you could easily see the juxtapositioning of luxurious elegance against quiet strength and fearlessness.
Most of the 16 looks were long knits and gauze (think maxi dresses and wide-legged trousers) paired with fur accessories and cuffs. The subtle effect of soft fabrics mixed with leather and fur oozed beauty, elegance and grace. Sun spent most of his relatively short career at J.Mendel and Oscar de la Renta working with fur, so it is no surprise it was everywhere. PETA be damned (hey, I like fur, what can I say?). Some of the best looks were the ones with fur stoles, vests and scarves. The color palette was muted and very wearable in shades like dusk-rose, brown , great and black. The cracked leather and reptile lace trim added elements of toughness. One of my personal favorite looks was the anthracite cashmere guaze maxi-dress with storm-grey shearling stole with reptilian lace trim that was very versatile. I also found myslef obsessed with the Jean-Michele Cazabat suede shoe booties worn by the models, of which I will certainly own by next fall.
