Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall ’12. Rebecca Taylor Grows Up

February 10, 2012 • Fashion Blog, Fashion Shows, New York Fashion Week Fall '12

Summary: I have to admit, I almost didn’t go to this show since I usually find Rebecca Taylor‘s clothes a little young and girly for our aesthetic, but when I saw I had an assigned seat (and a pretty good one) instead of our usual “standing” (which we never get in and had just given up) I ran in at the last minute. I’m glad I did. Taylor thankfully traded her expected girliness for something a little darker. The color palette was mostly plum, navy, and charcoal and black. There were even touches of tough chick leather and grown-up fur mixed with prints and knits! The prints were even updated and fresh. The mix of textures was a welcome change as well. Should a woman past 35 dress in head-to-toe Rebecca Taylor? Probably not, but I have to say…I left remembering more than a few items I would love to add to my closet next fall. That’s huge!

Color Palette: ivory, bordeaux, plum, aubergine, jade, navy, azure, charcoal, graphite, carbon, twilight, midnight, onyx, black

Fabrics and Textures: chiffon, dot chiffon, crepe, boucle, wool jersey, wool, velvet, jacquard, sequins, glitter, beading, fringe, tweed, leather, shearling, ombre, Intarsia, velvet burnout, zig-zag harringbone, feather print
