Summary: Dark and edgy was the theme of the Falguni & Shane Peacock Fall/Winter 2012 show. The tribal-infused and the almost over-sexed catsuits and miniskirts were in abundance. According to the designers, the dresses in their collection were black to serve the dual purpose of adding a theatrical rock-couture mark with the idea of being relatable to the public. Bright colors of sequins and feathers were worked into the collection with a tribal print motif.
The sharp looks used structures silhouettes and intricate details created a juxaposition between the softness of the feathers and slight pops of bright blues and purples. It seems that the The black leather long-sleeved catsuit with the long feathered train drew applause from the crowd. The drama would have to be toned down to be used in any kind of use except for bringing major drama to the red carpet.
Many of the looks could have been preceived as overworked and maybe too many elements to be piled on for each outfit. There was very detailed work in each piece, but many of it could be preceived of being too much for one set of eyes to handle. If the designers could choose just one embellishment, I think the collection as a whole would be a bit easier to handle for the buying crowd.
