One of the big trends this season (and is sure to be for the next) is to wear sheer paneling in your basic everyday pieces. All over the runways at fashion weeks for Autumn/Winter 2012, designers were finding new ways to add sheer panels to their collections, whether it would be a slight peek-a-boo hint or going all out. Even at the Academy Awards, starlets like Emma Stone and Ginnifer Goodwin wore floor-length gowns with sheer paneling to show off their legs.
If you want to try this trend for work, you can wear some slight sheer paneling around the hem of a voluminous skirt or a dress with some sheer paneling around the neckline. You could also try a semi-sheer top… just make sure you wear a blazer or you might end up in trouble with the HR department! If you want to try something for a casual day, you can layer a long maxi dress over a slip in the same color family for a toned down look. If you want to try a more bohemian yet edgy look, try layering that same dress over a simple lace tank top and jeans.
One way to take this trend full circle (and not for the faint of heart), is to wear a piece that is fully sheer. If you wear a fully sheer skirt, add a body-con dress as a foundation piece or a long button down for a hipper look. If you want to wear a sheer top, wear a tank top or for a sexy nighttime look, wear a nice bra. You can wear a simple black demi-cup or try for the brightly colored neon bralette variety if you want to attract the eyes of others.
Whichever way you decide to take this trend, just make sure you are comfortable in what you wear. Because this trend is all about standing out with your see-through pieces!
