I have been a DROID convert for well over a year now. I easily transitioned from a Blackberry and never looked back (before that I used a flip phone. Can you imagine?). I love my DROID, but it’s 3G and doesn’t take the best pictures. So, when I was given the opportunity to sample the new DROID RAZR by Motorola in purple during this past New York Fashion Week, I was eager to compare the two.
First, I have to say the RAZR is featherweight light, which is amazing considering the screen is quite large. In fact, it really is razor thin and the purple color grabbed a lot of attention. However, what I really appreciated was the lightening fast download speeds and the pictures. One of our other editors had our professional camera all week and I hate lugging my 2006 Cannon digital camera (considered ancient) in my already too large and heavy bag. The RAZR took surprisingly good photos. Much better than my current DROID for sure. In fact, I took over 200 pictures throughout the 5 days I covered the shows. I Tweeted some and downloaded the rest to my PC.
Here are some photos I took:
I’m actually sad to give this smartphone up. While the pictures were not the quality I could post on the blog, it came in handy for instant Twit-picing. The shutter speed on a cell phone will never be fast enough for professional quality fashion pictures, but it sure took better pictures than my current DROID.
