Trend For Spring 2012: The Drop-Waist Dress

Initially I was a little put off by the rebirth of this trend. After all I owned a few myself back in the 80’s. Come to think of it, so did my mother…Arnold Scassi anyone? So I certainly don’t want to look like Sammy Jo or Alexis Carrington if you catch the reference. However, upon closer inspection, many of the updated versions of the drop-waist dress are very different than their predecessors and much more flattering. For one, there isn’t a massive shoulder pad in the bunch. Two, not all drop-waist dresses have to flare out. The more modern version in fact, is a sheath. I can not tell a lie. I actually bought 2 summery drop-waist dresses on clearance a couple seasons ago. Guess they weren’t so in then, but I just had a feeling. We all could use a few couldn’t we?
