For fall 2012, there were a TON of beauty trends that went down the runways. One that kept resurfacing, was the idea of “bare” beauty: minimal makeup, natural mussy hair, and nude nails. Is this a trend to give the clothes the spotlight or is there another ulterior motive here?
Val Garland, a runway make-up artist from M.A.C. Cosmetics, has confirmed that this “less is more” trend is definitely a nod to the current economical situation. Garland said that designers still want women to be able to relate to the clothing and feel that with natural and do-able hair and makeup women can connect more. Also, a fresh, natural makeup look allows fashion-forward clothes to look less like a costume, and more wearable for everyday life.
Has your makeup routine changed with the recession? Will you be sporting a more natural beauty routine this fall?
