A makeup line as artful and color- saturated as Nars would of course appreciate the creative prowess of a legend like Andy Warhol. That’s precisely why Nars plans to pay tribute to the quirky and game changing artist by creating a color cosmetics line inspired by him, expected this fall. Nars Andy Warhol — created by François Nars under a license with The Andy Warhol Foundation — is intended to channel the tone of Warhol’s famous etchings, from the Campbells soup cans to technicolor Marilyn Monroe. The limited edition collection will feature innovative packaging, formulas and shades. This is not, however the first cosmetics company/artist crossover. The Huffington Post points out that as color-savvy individuals, artists can be a common muse for a color cosmetics line, such as Anselm Reyle’s nail color collection for Dior and one of MAC’s many colloborations being with photographer Chen Man.
But this one is definitely worth marking your calendars for, as it is the brand’s biggest collaboration to date. Nars Andy Warhol will be launched in the U.S. in October and elsewhere in November, just in time for holiday. It’s never to early to start those wish lists!
