Fashion designers have often turned to interior design as a way to extend their creative prowess. Betsey Johnson created an “Eloise”-themed suite at The Plaza hotel in New York and Martin Margiela has revamped rooms at an uber-luxe hotel in Paris. But not many have lent their craft to a residential condo before, which makes us excited for the new property designed by MissoniHome in the Philippines.
The fun and colorful design aesthetic of Italian label Missoni will be replicated in the 52-story Acqua Livingstone residential building in Manila, being developed by Century Properties Group Inc. As the first condominium designed by MissoniHome in the world, Century Properties has received a huge level of success in filling up the units. “MissoniHome is known for creating its own style that reflects a celebration of life… Our brand is an experience of happiness, excitement, beauty, creativity, style and elegance,” said Vittorio Missoni, Marketing Director and shareholder of Missoni S.p.A.
The Missoni design will be seen in Acqua Livingstone’s multi-level amenity area called The Canopy. Residents at Acqua Livingstone will also have the option of having their units interior designed by MissoniHome. The Canopy’s lower level will house functions rooms, business center, an indoor and outdoor gym, jacuzzi, a library and spa. The upper level is a social space dedicated to interaction and entertainment with an amphitheatre, lounge, DJ booth and dance floor, pool with swim up bar, and barbecue facilities. Tying these two levels together is a fanciful organic wire-mesh tree that winds its way up and connects to the mezzanine floor, where residents can enjoy surrounding views or enjoy a meal in the open-air dining area. With floating lights, patterned surfaces, Missoni shapes and forms guiding the landscape, The Canopy provides a true Missoni lifestyle experience, a blend of art and function that completely redefines the condo living experience.
“Living in a MISSONIHOME-designed address is a rare lifestyle experience. For the first time it will be possible at Acqua Livingstone,” said Project Head and Century Managing Director Marco Antonio, who elaborated the tower’s design highlights: bold colors and energetic forms in the lobbies, hallways and even elevators, accentuated by equally arresting furniture. Acqua Livingstone will have 645 units, which are now offered at pre-selling prices for between approximately $82,000 and $613,000 for the first tranche. Unit sizes range from 27sqm to 140sqm and come in one to three bedrooms. A private collection of special units called Acqua Privé includes Townhouse, Sky Garden, Private Garden, and Penthouse units.
