Beauty Beat: Palatium Roman Bath Oil

April 2, 2012 • Beauty, Fashion Blog

I’m a sucker for bath oil. Especially ones that smell yummy so when I heard Luxe Labs, LLC, just launched a new line of bath products including Roman Bath Oils I was eager to try some. The oil is a blend of organic Tuscan olive oil and other nourishing oils, including organic soybean, jojoba and primrose oils. The blend is mixed with soothing vitamin E and organic green and white tea extracts for a sensuous and rejuvenating bathing experience.

Olive oil was used as a base for all bathing products in Ancient Rome. Today, we know that olive oil acts as an ideal ingredient for bathing. It is the purest fat obtainable, contains natural anti-bacterial properties, and is sensitive enough for use on delicate skin. Organic Tuscan olive oil offers the highest quality of oil available in the modern world. High-grade organic Tuscan olive oil serves as the natural base for all Palatium products.

Palatium is offering  three custom-designed inaugural fragrances which were carefully developed with Rayda Vega, a master New York-based artisanal perfumer. The three scents in Palatium’s launch are designed to recall the Mediterranean region. The scents include:

Arancia Dolce is inspired by the sweet citrus of the orange groves lining seaside retreats from Cinque Terre to Amalfi. Top Note: Effervescent orange, grapefruit and lime zest. Mid Note: Lily of the valley, jasmine and orange blossom. Bottom Note: Cedarwood and gentle musk.

Fico Speziato (the one I tried) is based on the scent of fresh fig balanced by gentle spices from Jerusalem and Alexandria along the Eastern edges of the Mediterranean. Top Note: Fresh dew drops of rain and green notes from orange flower leaves. Mid Note: Magnolia, rose petals and jasmine. Bottom Note: Exotic woods and musk.

Mare Myrteus blends the elemental zest of a refreshing trade wind with spirited notes of Tyrrhenian myrtle berries. Top Note: Refreshing bergamot, sparkling lemon and cool, ocean air breezes. Mid Note: Floral jasmine and muguet blended with tangy ginger. Bottom Note: Blonde woods, amber and musk.

I am absolutely in love with the fragrance of the Fico Speziato! It not only smelled divine, but took me on a 10 minute journey back to Italy (at least while I was in the shower). Now I can’t wait to try the other two oils.
