Kelley Woods will be back from maternity leave next month, but for my last beauty article for the digital magazine side I thought I would share with you some of my all-time favorite health and beauty products. I have been covering health and beauty since we started Second City Style almost seven years ago and during that time I have been fortunate to try a lot of new products. While I am always one to share my favorite tips like a Baby Oil rinse right before I step out of the shower, or my dedication to eye cream since I was 19 (but I have a lot of favorite brands and am loyal to none) and my newfound commitment to facial sun protection (too bad I didn’t figure that out before I suntanned myself to a dark brown!), there are some products I now can’t live without. They are the ones I tend to evangelize and repurchase again and again. They are also the products my friends, family and readers thank me most for sharing. Here we go:
1. Rita Hazan Root Concealer, $24
I can not tell you how many people I convinced to use this amazing product. It literally buys you time between hair color touch-ups and is fool-proof. Simply spray it on your greys/regrowth and voila! I have even told my colorist to recommend it to his clients. You know I love a product when I don’t shut up about it. I can’t live without this stuff.
Yes, it costs a lot, but I am so worth it! Trust me, I have tried more foundations claiming to be as good if not better than this one and they never are. I always come back to my trusted Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It makes my skin appear as flawless as it is ever going to look. I have been using it for over 7 years and have no plans on switching unless something better really comes along.
A few years ago I noticed my neck was starting to look a little dare I say crepey? Maybe I was imagining it, but I swear I saw a little sagging and that is NOT cool. So when I got a sample of this neck cream I was elated. It’s amazing and my neck now looks the same as it did when I was 25.
4. MoroccanOil Treatment, 3.4 oz., $46.99
Not only does this miracle hair oil make you hair look healthy and shiny instantly, it smells amazing. It took me a few tries to get the proportions right for my hair (too much makes it greasy), but now that I have I can’t live without it.
It’s a laser treatment in a tube! This serum really does repair, resurface, regenerate and renew dull, aging and overexposed skin. I swear it truly helps lessen the noticeable signs of aging as a result of time, UV and environmental damage while dramatically improving texture and tone. I have been using it twice a day for about 5 months now and have noticed a very big difference in my skin. I keep buying more so that says something!
6. Latisse, $130
Yes, Latisse really works! I can’t tell you how many people stop me about my long eyelashes! I swear I have sent probably 100 women running to their doctors to get a script immediately after talking to them. I think Allergan (the makers of Latisse) owe me a big, fat commission check! It doesn’t make your eyes turn brown so don’t worry. It does however give you incredibly long lashes and I don’t have to use much mascara any longer. Just curl them and go. Also, long lashes make you look younger. Need I say more?
I am beyond addicted to Core Fusion classes at exhale. I recently lost about 27 pounds and nothing has changed my figure and flexibility as much as these barre method classes. They are hard, but doable. As a former spinning instructor and someone who was addicted to body toning classes I can tell you I have never seen results like these and I feel better and look better then ever. Even after having two babies! My butt is as high as it has ever been (so says my husband) after going 2-3 times per week. The results will make you an addict too. I promise.
