We told you about Marc Jacobs’ new fragrance “Dot” soon to hit the market but it seems we are closer to a release date than expected. And here’s a first look at the bottle! Because you know from Daisy and the fact that it’s “Marc Jacobs”, it has to be adorable.
With a bottle not too much unlike the patterning of a ladybug, Jacobs’ new scent is bound to have a following before it even hits the shelves. Jacobs said he has long felt strongly about the classicism and elegance of a polka-dot motif, a recurring pattern in his collections and a major focus of his Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear line. “One design that I always go back to in some way is the dot,” he said. “I felt like this was something I’d never get tired of, and I’ll always find a new way to interpret.”
It has top notes of red berries, dragon fruit and honeysuckle; a heart of jasmine, coconut water and orange blossom and a drydown of vanilla, driftwood and musk. “There’s a juicy, lush quality to it because it felt like the right spirit for this bottle,” he said. “It’s almost like a butterfly or a ladybug landing on a leaf.”
Dot will be carried at about 3,300 department and specialty store doors beginning in July with a price range from $48 to $89. The collection includes eaux de parfum in three sizes — 1 oz. for $48, 1.7 oz. for $69 and 3.4 oz. for $89 — as well as a 5-oz. body lotion, $45, and a 5-oz. shower gel, $40.
