Fired for Being Straight?
This lawsuit is getting downright dirty from every angle. Christopher Burch, the ex-business partner as well as ex-husband of of Tory Burch, and Tory herself are being sued because an ex-employee claims that he was fired for being a straight male.
A $1 million federal suit in Manhattan filed against Chris Burch claims he openly stated he “only hired gay men because they were productive and he trusted them,” from The Post. Former employee Jamie Ardigo says he was subjected to “discrimination based on sexual orientation” while working in human resources for the firm, then fired in February for complaining about it. Burch’s attorney Brian S. Cousin said, “The defendants deny the allegations of discrimination and retaliation set forth in the complaint and are prepared to mount a vigorous defense.”
Minnie Rose to Open Pop-Up
Minnie Rose, a contemporary cashmere and sportswear firm, is dipping its toes into retailing. Next month, it will open its first store — a 400- to 500-square-foot pop-up shop at The Montauk Beach House in Long Island. Minnie Rose, known for its range of colors and styles, focuses entirely on specialty stores, selling to such accounts around the country as Henri Bendel, Intermix, and Saks. The shop will stay open through September.
Koch and Kraft Gossip on Jacobs
Apparently, everyone was dying to hear the conversation when conservative Met Museum trustee David Koch met a lace dress-clad Marc Jacobs during cocktails at Monday’s gala. Billionaire Koch and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft were introduced to the designer, who was wearing a sheer black dress over white boxers and pilgrim shoes with rhinestone buckles.
According to Page Six sources, Koch and Kraft didn’t bat an eye at Jacobs’ outfit, but when he left, Kraft said, “I don’t know about the white underpants.” Koch responded, “I agree. Don’t you think he should’ve worn matching black boxers?” “These are two of the most powerful, macho guys,” said a spy, “who were totally nonplused meeting a man in a see-through dress.” I guess Koch and Kraft know their fashion better than Jacobs.
