Spring 2012 Trend: Give ‘Em The Cold Shoulder

May 22, 2012 • Fashion, Fashion Blog, Trends

While browsing sites for dresses and tops I came across a trend I had never seen before. Shoulders that were cut out. Come to find out it’s actually called a ‘cold shoulder.’ I’m not sure how I feel about it quite frankly. The cut-out trend is certainly huge this season, but here it meets Flashdance. The ten I picked above I rather like, but while searching I found so many options that were just plain trashy. So I say be careful how you wear this and which ones you chose. If you see a cold-shoulder top in a t-shirt, keep walking. Those were the worst. Also if it has fringe hanging from it I’d give it a pass (maybe avoid Forever21, Bebe and the like for this one). I would recommend keeping your accessories classic and minimal when donning a cold shoulder. Here are 10 cold shoulder picks that work:

1. Feel the Piece Cold Shoulder Dress, $154

2. Pierre Balmain Studded Cold Shoulder Dress, $1,005

3. Trina Turk Bernice Cold Shoulder Dress, $268

4. Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Cold Shoulder Maxi Caftan Dress, $350

5. Shamask Satin Cold-Shoulder Top, $1,295

6. Wallis Black Floral Cold Shoulder Top, $56

7. Alloy Cece Cold Shoulder Boho Dress, $39.90

8. Mandalay Cold Shoulder Sequin Dress, $1,053

9. Haute Hippie Cold Shoulder Silk Dress, $445

10. Equipment Nixie Blouse, $208
