Outfit Of The Day For June 1, 2012. How To Tie In Mix Prints

June 1, 2012 • Fashion Blog, Outfit Of The Day, Yahoo

I love the idea of mixing patterns and prints, but if the ideas scares you, opt to wear it in small doses. The easiest way to get in on the trend is to wear a tiny print top and mix it with a large, bold print scarf. (Or vice-versa, wear a large, bold print top with a tiny print scarf.) As Lauren explained in her article How To Mix Prints & Not Look Like You’re Batsh*t Crazy!, the key is to keep a common color thread running through the prints that you use. So what easier way than to start with a black and white mini print top, like this polka-dot top from Rag & Bone, and wear a big, bold abstract print scarf (from my collection of vintage scarves) with either black or white in it! The options are endless, as you can see.

Top: Rag & Bone Dotted Black and White Blouse, no longer available. Any tiny black and white print would work the same way, like this Ann Taylor Women’s Vanilla Creme Cowl Neck Cap Sleeve Palomino Print Top, $68 or this Theory ‘Moha – Abstract’ Print Silk Top, $215

Jeans: Gap, similar to Gap 1969 Sexy Boot Jeans, $59.95 or (I like these even better) try these Joe’s Jeans The Skinny White Jeans, $169

Option 1: A scarf with a large pattern of black, bright colors with no white

Option 2: A scarf with no black but tipped in white with bright colors works

Option 3: A scarf with black and white and colors works

Scarf: Mine are Vintage, but I found some beautiful scarves with large patterns including paisleys and ombres like this Theodora & Callum Formentera Scarf, $175, this Missoni Stripe Scarf, $214, and this Brightly Twisted Scarves Tie Dye Scarf, $98.

Handbag: Coach Pewter Metallic, no longer available. See this B. Makowsky Sunny Satchel in Pewter, now $222.99.

Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo, no longer available. Jimmy Choo carries many styles like these Jimmy Choo Severine in Pearl Shade Pink/Brown Violet Gradient Lens Sunglasses, $365.

Sandals: Joe’s Jeans, no longer available. Find these 7 For All Mankind Gazelle Halter Wedge Sandals, now $120.

Haircut & Color: Sasoon Chicago Salon
