Revlon: What’s In My Bag

June 18, 2012 • Beauty, Fashion Blog

I’m usually carrying a baby bag (Marc by Marc Jacobs) these days so when I get a day sans children to run around NYC doing Second City Style work, my oversized Yves Saint Laurent Muse seems small and light. How sad is that? I never go anywhere without my smartphone, business cards and makeup bag. I always have something to read – just in case – whether it’s a book (I realize I am the only person still reading ‘The Hunger Games’) or the newspaper because I can’t read or send email on the subway. I also have my exhale spa Core Fusion socks on me just in case I can pop into a class since I am addicted and if I find myself with a free hour, that’s where you can usually find me these days.

As for my makeup bag (which is Be & D), I like to keep it light. I don’t wear too much makeup during the day. I love my Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer, because it makes me look like I got a good night’s sleep and have flawless skin, even when I have only slept four hours. I never want to look like an exhausted mother of babies, even though I am! During the day I use it alone as the lightweight formula neutralizes redness, brightens my skin and minimizes discolorations and dark spots. For evening I use it under my foundation. I have been using Revlon ColorStay Smoky Shadow Stick ever since it came out and have it in 3 different color combinations, but this one is my favorite for day. It’s idiot proof and gives me a professional looking smokey eye in seconds! I just add a coat of Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lengthening Mascara (two coats for nighttime drama) and my eyes are done. I am too busy to spend more than 3 minutes total on my makeup. The Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palette is amazing because it includes a highlighter, blush and contour blush in one compact. I can create the illusion of high cheekbones in an instant. Then I just add a little of my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain on my lips which lasts pretty much all day. Sometimes I add some gloss in a yummy flavor if I want high shine, but it does taste pretty good on its own. However, the flavored gloss is my son’s favorite and if it will get me a kiss, I’ll wear it!

I always have a nail file on hand because I hate snags and eye drops are a must since I wear contacts. I never know if it will be a bad hair day so I keep a barrette in my bag as well.

Being prepared for anything empowers me, so my bag makes me Superwoman. I feel confident when I feel I have everything I need and look the best I can at all times. You never know when it will be a camera-ready moment.

In 2012 ELLE and Revlon will celebrate beauty as it relates to female self-confidence, personal style, and being prepared for any of life’s challenges.
