It’s tough being a popular designer. Mary Katrantzou is known for her bold digital prints, vibrant colors and intricate embroidery… and it seems everyone else wants a piece of that too.
Katrantzou told the press that she is over being mad at retailers copying her design:
“I’ve gone through stages. First, flattery – a high street store is copying you! Then a sense of injustice – someone has taken your idea and made it in a form that is not as good quality. But you can’t take it personally; everyone is being copied, and I don’t have the budget to sue.”
At least she has a good sense that she knows she won’t be the first name in the Google search “… when you put ‘lampshade skirt’ in Google, you get ‘ASOS’! It’s so unfair!” Katrantzou wailed. Well, you can’t win ’em all.
