Nordstrom New York Store Opening is Officially Announced

Nordstrom plans to open a Manhattan flagship store in the future. It has a long road ahead before this will be possible. Pete Nordstrom, president of merchandising stated yesterday, “It’s quite something. This has been a long time coming.” The store will open in 2018 or 2017 and will be located at 225 57th street, between Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Nordstrom has high expectations for the store, and predicts it will be their most productive store.   The store will be the biggest Nordstrom store yet! It will have 285,000 square feet and over seven levels. The Nordstrom building will be a mixed-use building. It will also have a commercial complex, a hotel and a tall residential building.

For more than two decades, Nordstrom has been trying to find the perfect spot for a flagship store in Manhattan. Pete Nordstrom said, “We had a chance to get a lot of different choices. We think we made a really good decision. It’s a great residential area. There’s big tourism and a lot of people do a lot of shopping here. If 225 became know at the Nordstrom building, that would be great.”

Fashion Star Will Be Back for a Second Season, But Not Elle or H&M

In what is considered a major shake-up at NBC’s designer competition “Fashion Star,” NY Post’s Page Six can reported today that supermodel Elle Macpherson (The Body) is out as host for the next season. Not that we are complaining because she was a bit stiff. Also the format of the series could be changing. Judges Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos and Nicole Richie will apparently remain. Co-sponsor H&M will not return for a second season, either. Sources say the popular they ultimately decided the reality show was no longer a good fit. That one miffs us since the fashions they reproduced seemed to sell out in minutes! Macpherson will stay on as an executive producer will still be very involved with the show.

Taylor Swift’s New Fragrance

Taylor Swift is getting back into the fragrance category. She will be introducing Wonderstruck Enchanted in September. Her last fragrance was introduced last September and was a huge success. Taylor Swift said, “Wonderstruck is about that moment when you instantly feel a connection to someone, but then there’s that feeling of being completely enamored – enchanted – when you know a little more about that someone and still feel that strong connection.” Top notes of the fragrance include wild berries, passion fruit and pink poppy. The heart is of peony swirls, sugar-glazed champaca petals and blooming white freesia. The drydown is white musk, hypnotic vanilla and blond woods.

Michael Kors Goes After Online Counterfeits

Social media sites, search engines and even blogs are making it easier for counterfeit goods to be sold. Brands like Hermes International and Burberry LTD have already won $100 million judgments against counterfeiters. The latest case has been the $2.4 million win from Michael Kors LLC. When one website is shut down, new ones tend to appear. This makes it difficult to track down the parties responsible. Michael Kors went after 35 websites selling counterfeit goods. Many times, the counterfeits were priced from $350 and $800! On top of the $2.4, Kors has permanent injunction against the sites.
