If you have turned on a TV, or glanced at a newspaper this week, chances are you’d have seen some tidbit on the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorce. As unsurprising as it actually is that the couple split, it sure is getting a ton of hype. Luckily, Holmes has never been one to soak up the spotlight and she’s trying to maintain a level of integrity through it all. Part of that front includes maintaining the business end of her fashion line with stylist design partner Jeanne Yang. (Did you know she had a clothing line??).
The line, aptly called Holmes & Yang launched in 2009 and is available at Barneys New York. The palette of the chic, simple pieces is almost entirely black, cream and navy. The concept behind the lines was to create a line for women and mothers to have a wardrobe that could take them from a PTA meeting to a board meeting to a date. And never leaving daughter Suri out a decision, Holmes even included a collection of girl’s clothes in tandem with Holmes & Yang’s original collection.
So now with her personal affairs splashed across the front page, will Holmes have to hang up her scissors and measuring tape? A spokeswoman for Holmes assured the media that her personal matters, “are not affecting the line.” In fact, it seems to be quite the opposite. The Holmes & Yang line will be putting on a presentation for the first time during New York Fashion Week in September to show the spring collection. The venue hasn’t been decided yet but it just goes to show, when one door closes, sometimes a runway opens up!
