Oakley to Launch Women’s Swimwear

The first licensed collection of women’s swimwear by Oakley will hit stores globally in November. The line, which will be a fusion of both lifestyle and performance swimwear, as well as swim-related accessories, is being produced, marketed and distributed under license by Montreal-based Trimera Group.

“The collection will be unveiled at the July 14 to 18 Miami Swim Show,” said Kathy Van Ness, president of Trimera Group’s Swim division. “Oakley came to us a year ago in an effort to expand their global brand. It’s been an exciting project to understand and translate Oakley’s DNA into swimwear,” explained Van Ness. “This is not a collection for a girly girl, it’s for the sporty girl and it has a lot of attitude. It’s athletic sporty and not meant to be flirty.”

Prints and colors will include 3-D stripes, tartan plaid, neon brights and solid black. Suggested retail will be $44 for bikini sets, $88 for monokinis, and $44 for tops and boy shorts. All styles will be rendered in an exclusive quick-dry fabric that features increased durability and recovery.

Lagerfeld Coming to Selfridges

On July 24, three days before the Summer Games kick off, Karl Lagerfeld is slated to make a personal appearance at Selfridges as the department store inaugurates a dedicated space to his signature brand, and launches the new premium line Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man. Windows at the main entrance on Oxford Street are to point to various Lagerfeld attractions, including a pop-up space on the third floor in the contemporary women’s wear department, and an Olympic-themed capsule collection of apparel and accessories under the banner “Team Karl.”

The latter includes limited-edition T-shirts in collaboration with London design agency I Love Dust. One depicts the designer, forever in suit-and-tie and sunglasses, getting ready to fling a discus. Selfridges also plans to launch the fall collections for men and women under the Karl label, the masstige brand with a casual, rock ’n’ roll flavor introduced in January.

Jessica Simpson to Launch Bridal Line

Add to your “not surprising” list: Jessica Simpson will be adding bridal couture ready-to-wear to her billion dollar empire. According to In Touch Magazine, Simpson will be starting her own bridal line. “A wedding line is something she’s always wanted to do,” a source close to Jessica said. “She is talented and knows what women want to wear.”

Plus, adds the source, Jessica can relate to “regular” girls, not just A-list Hollywood stars. “She has curves like every girl so women will buy those dresses up!” Seriously,… the girl’s empire is worth a billion dollar so she might have at least one clue what she’s doing.
