Proenza Schouler Soon to Open First Store

For the first time within the ten years of Proenza Schouler the label will finally have their own store which opens this Friday. The 2,000-square-foot space will reside on 822 Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough created their first line under the label for their senior projects where it was then picked up by Barneys New York. For the past decade the label has been sold within a department store, however they are changing their retail strategy in order to accommodated the new store.

The location, that was once a sushi restaurant, has been reconstructed to a two-story, edgy and sophisticated store. The designers stated that for the first few seasons they will be buying for the store themselves and plan to stock as much of the runway looks as possible along with offering ample exclusives.

CFDA Teams Up with New York Mets

For those who love the New York Mets, the Council of Fashion Designers of America just announced a partnership to create exclusive Mets apparel. These pieces are in honor of the fiftieth anniversary for both organizations.

Those involved in this team-up includes Billy Reid, Yigal Azrouël, Loomstate’s Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn, and Shipley & Halmos’ Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos. Together these designers created a collection of tanks, T-shirts, and Henleys that will be be offered at Citi Field and online retailer for a limited time.

Lord & Taylor Sponsors “Project Runway”

For the 10th anniversary of “Project Runway” Lord & Taylor announced they will be the official sponsor of the season. With this deal, L&T will showcase shoes, handbags, and accessories on the runway wall for contestants to use when completing their challenge looks.

Along with providing pieces for the wall, L&T will host a fashion challenge at the Fifth Avenue flagship and the winner of the tenth season will be able to sell their collection at the store. Throughout the season the store’s windows along with social media and website, will promote the sponsorship. Also, past and present Project Runway contestants will appear at the flagship for Fashion’s Night Out.
