Target is Launching Beauty Concierge

On Sunday, Target will launch the Target Beauty Concierge program to 28 metro-Chicago area stores. They will be testing its success for 9 months at these 28 locations, and eventually could expand to 400 to 450 target stores.

To start, there will be 14 advisers that are assigned to two stores during their 40-hour work week. The advisers will be wearing all black and the Beauty Concierge logo on their apron. They will give out samples and beauty advise in the skin care and makeup categories. Target said they focused in on the Chicago area for the 9 month trial because it includes all its store formats and a broad cross-selection of consumers.

Valentino Sold for $858 Million

Valentino is looking to the far east for its next phase. Mayhoola for Investments, an investment firm backed by a private group of Middle Eastern monarchy investors purchased Valentino. Exact details of the exchange were not disclosed, but Valentino was sold for around $858 million.

The deal included 100% of Valentino spA and the M Missoni license business. Stefano Sassi, chief executive officer at Valentino said, “after four intense years, a new phase opens up and we are offered a chance to push forward with additional resources.”  Sassi also said that the investors took control over not only the brand, but also the projects behind it. Stefano Sassi and creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli will still work under Valentino.

Tracy Reese Will Be Featured in the Target and Neiman Marcus Collaboration

You can look forward to this holiday season because along with other great designers, Tracy Reese will take part in the limited-edition collaboration between Target and Neiman Marcus.

Tracy Reese said, “I’ve always been a fan of Target, especially its collaborations, and am thrilled to be one of the designers participating.” Reese joins 23 other CFDA designers to be sold at Target. The Target & Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection kicks off at both retailers on Dec. 1.

Nordstrom to Sell Topshop

Seattle-based Nordstrom has reached a deal to sell clothes from the British fashion brand Topshop. Topshop women’s as well as Topman men’s goods will be sold online and at 14 of the chain’s department stores.
