Beauty: Lip Obsessions. 5 Must-Have Products

July 16, 2012 • Beauty, Magazine

I’ve been on a lip kick for the past month and I think it’s become a little of an obsession. Maybe because I feel I need to have new lip products to throw in my new LV bag. There’s a connection between handbags and lip products as they both make me equally happy. Here are some lip products that I am currently loving for summer.

Before applying any lip product it’s important to have a great base to which to apply said product. Making sure lips are smooth is essential to flawless application. What better way to get lips smooth than with a lip scrub? Topping the list right now is Bliss Spa’s Fabulips. Designed to recreate the popular Fabulips treatment at Bliss Spas, this gentle scrub buffs away dead skin, and flakes and re-textures the skin with ingredients including jojoba oil. This scrub brings a great spa product right to your home.

Nothing gets me more excited than products that deliver unexpected results. I didn’t know what to think of this baby pink charm of a balm but I fell in love. Pixi Glow Magic Tink Tint, a collaboration with Disney, has a cute Tinkerbell silhouette with her signature and is quite charming to say the least. It reminds me of one of the first balms I got in my teens. Reacting to your lips’ pH level this clever little balm delivers the perfect pink tint, and is super moisturizing as well. It’s quit addicting asit feels so good on the lips, that is until my son got a hold of it and thought it was a crayon!

Sometimes I don’t need anything but an inexpensive balm to toss in my bag that is not is not only good for my lips, but smells good. Enter Eos Organic Lip Balm in Summer Fruit. The cute container won me over first, with its small petite round shape that looks like anything but lip balm. There’s something magical about a round balm, besides being gluten-free, paraben-free and petrolatum-free, it glides on effortlessly, is smooth and clear and has lasting moisture.

This next product was a life-saver when I had my daughter! Not only did it aid me in my effort to ‘naturally’ feed my daughter but it also saved my lips, dry cuticles and hands. I kept this religiously in the diaper bag, and wanted more for every purse. Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips was historically used for nursing mothers, but now is one of celebrity makeup artists favorite balms in their arsenal. With the key ingredient being lanolin it goes on thick but glides on effortlessly and has phenomena staying power and super shine.

What’s perfect for summer when less is more, and you need multitasking products? Nothing is better than a lip and cheek stain. Benefit always creates beautiful lip and cheek stains, and one of their newest is no exception. Cha-Cha mango-tinted  stain  is a beautiful flush of coral for cheeks and lips that is perfect for summer. I love this on brides, since it is smooch-proof and smudge-proof. It keeps lips and cheeks sun-kissed for hours.
