Through a designer partnership, Nina Garcia has just been named J.C. Penney’s “resident style voice and fashion collection curator”. The Marie Claire fashion director and Project Runway judge will work closely with the J.C. Penney design and merchandise teams as well as provide advice to customers via social media and in-store digital technology.
J.C. Penney chief merchant, Liz Sweney had this to say regarding the addition of Nina Garcia,” We look forward to leveraging her global fashion expertise as we provide our customers with attainable style advice and ideas.”
J.C. Penney plans to introduce many new brands to its department stores and is currently renovating its stores to include specialty shops. These new brands include: men and women’s jcp brand, Dream Pop by Cynthia R, Betseyville, Vivienne Tam; and DC. Next Spring, the home section will see additions from MarthaHome stores by Martha Stewart as well as shops by Jonathan Adler, Michael Graves, Bodum and Terence Conran. Despite the many changes and additions to the J.C. Penney brand, the company laid off 350 headquarters employees last week.
