Tom Ford Launching Second Men’s Fragrance
In the last seven years, Tom Ford Beauty has grown tremendously with retail sales of $200 million. The president and chief executive officer of the Lauder company said, “The brand sits at the pinnacle of true luxury in beauty and has a huge appeal to the high-end consumers around the world.” The strength of the Ford business is mostly in Europe, but are focusing on expanded the brand. We can’t wait to hear more about the fragrance and when it will launch.
Hermès Unaffected By the Recession With Sales Jumping 21.9%
What recession? It would seem the super rich can’t get their fill of Birkins. “We haven’t noticed any erosion of consumer demand,” chief executive officer Patrick Thomas told WWD Thursday as Hermès reported that sales in the second-quarter jumped 21.9%. Despite slowing growth in China, Thomas said Hermès has detected no change in surging demand from Chinese clients, particularly in Europe.
Peter Som Moving On After 5 Seasons With Hilfiger
After five successful seasons as the creative consultant of Tommy Hilfiger’s women’s runway collection and accessories, Peter Som is leaving. He won’t be consulting on the spring 2013 women’s runway collections. Brought in to freshen up and give a modern interpretation to Hilfiger’s preppy aesthetic, the decision was apparently ‘mutual and amicable’. Going forward, the company’s in-house team will work directly with Hilfiger on the women’s runway collections.
Jonathan Greller Exits HBC for the Doneger Group
Jonathan Greller, the top women’s merchant at the Husdon’s Bay Co., has left to join the Doneger Group as chief operating officer. This is a new position at the company. It was surprising news considering last February, Greller, was put in charge of all women’s apparel at The Bay and Lord & Taylor divisions of HBC.
MaryAnne Morin, senior vice president and general merchandise manager for center core and intimates, now also is responsible for dresses, suits, swim and coats for both department stores. Connie Hoza has been promoted to senior vice president and general merchandise manager for women’s contemporary, modern and classic sportswear at Lord & Taylor and The Bay.
Salvatore Ferragamo Outfits San Marino Athletes for Olympics
Salvatore Ferragamo is designing uniforms for the athletes of the Republic of San Marino. San Marino is Italy’s independent microstate. The lineup includes everything from leisure wear to gala attire. It mixes sporty functionality with Ferragamo’s signature design. Some of the items to be on the lookout for are a blue linen blazer, worn over a crepe de chine shirts, with white cotton pants for women, and for men a pin-striped suit. A trench, lightweight down jacket, cashmere sweater and cotton beige pants. The Olympics have never been so sophisticated and stylish.
