Who needs Fashion Week when the show can come to you?! Well, that could be a bit of an overstatement but it’s hard to not get spoiled when you’re treated to dinner *and* a fashion show!
Creative director (and wife to Mr. Max himself) of BCBG Max Azria Mrs. Lubov Azria gave Chicago editors a sneak preview of the upcoming pre-Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection. Held at the Floating World Gallery, guests were treated to decadent drinks and a upscale dinner… while watching the centered catwalk of this season’s pieces.
You can’t expect BCBG Max Azria without having a few accordion pleats, brightly colored chiffon and peek-a-boo panels. Eastern European-inspired prints and delicate lace insets added intricate visual layers to this airy collection while ladylike shapes and make this collection feel more “of-the-moment”. Vibrant neon color-blocking added excitement to each pieces but because that color palette was kept to a minimum of about five colors working with powder pinks, nudes and black, the collection as a whole doesn’t feel overwhelming.
So, what’s next for BCBG? Lubov let it slip that she had been inspired by the streamlined shapes of the boats against the waters of Lake Michigan. Could the Windy City be the inspiration for the Spring 2013? ” I just can’t say!” Lubov said with a laugh. Well, you heard it here first! Maybe is better than nothing!
