Trend For Fall 2012: A Little Pop Of Collar

August 1, 2012 • Fashion, Fashion Blog, Trends

Menswear-inspired pop collars are turning up everywhere for Fall 2012. You will find them on dresses, tops, tees and sweaters. Never fear, they really don’t look too manly. Nobody is going to confuse you for your husband or think you have raided your boyfriend’s closet. What sets this trend apart from it’s bib collar predecessor last year is that you are looking for contrast…which is what makes it pop! Look for bold metallics paired with black or jewel embellishments with an unexpected cashmere sweater….or how about leather with a lacy frock? It’s the ying to your yang. Now if you are like me and have a larger chest you may want to try (ready?) a dickey rather than a blouse under your sweater! Remember those hideous things from the 70’s? I barley do, but they eliminate unwanted bulk. They have been updated for 2012, don’t worry. Dickey is no longer a dirty word. If you just can’t go there you may want to do it yourself.
