Trend For Fall 2012: Opulence De Rigueur…Going Broke For Baroque

August 16, 2012 • Fashion Blog, Trends

Minimalism Schmisinalism. It’s all about opulence for fall 2012. If you are one that thinks less is more, you may want to stop reading now. However, if you think a lot is never enough then the Baroque trend could just be the trend you’ve been looking for. This is one of my absolute favorite trends for fall. Look for metallic-gilded details, rich velvets, jacquards and Renaissance-inspired prints. Make Marie-Antoinette proud. In fact, if you are truly daring you can mix and match a bit. Versace overload! However, nobody will fault you for erring on the side of caution. Try pairing a brocade jacket with black skinny jeans and simple black booties if you want to keep it more basic. Here are 10 Baroque items we are coveting right now:

1. Alexander McQueen Intarsia Wool-blend Dress, $2,595

2. Balmain Devoré-velvet Mini Dress, $5,570

3. Giambattista Valli Paisley-jacquard Skirt, $1,685

4. Victoria, Victoria Beckham Dropped-waist Jacquard Dress, $895

5. Citizens of Humanity Thompson Mid-rise Stretch-corduroy Skinny Jeans,$230

6. Elizabeth and James Yumi Metallic Brocade Top, $365

7. Alice + Olivia ‘Laird’ Pump,$325

8. Renee Caovilla Velvet Baroque Beaded Slipper, $775

9. Zac Posen Metallic Brocade Pencil Skirt, $1590

10. Giuseppe Zanotti Metal-heel Suede Pumps, $650
