Esteban Cortazar’s Namesake Collection Soon to Appear
September twelfth marks the day when Esteban Cortazar‘s namesake collection will be revealed. The twenty-eight year old designer, who left his position at Emanuel Ungaro back in 2009, has been working with the online retailer Net-a-Porter for his first collection. This is the first time an online retailer has helped a designer build a brand from the ground up. The company worked closely with Cortazar with producing samples, marketing and pr, and developing pricing strategies.
When the idea began two years ago, it was initially supposed to be a small capsule collection to be sold on Net-a-Porter.com, however it quickly turned into an exclusive launch of a namesake brand. While right now the seventeen look, thirty piece collection will only be sold online, Cortazar is hoping to see his pieces at select retailers over time. As for this season, beginning in September pieces, such as T-shirts retailing for $270 and gowns for around $1,800, can be purchased at Net-a-Porter.com.
New Concepts for Nine West
Nine West feels like being aggressive when it comes to their retail boutiques, beginning in New York City. Three different and new store concepts for the shoe brand begin opening in NYC next week. The first store is set to open Tuesday at 555 Madison Avenue with a theme called “The World According to 9.” Trend driven walls displaying themes such as “boho chic” and “wall of pumps” will not only look stylish, but will also organize the store for easy shopping.
The second store, who shares this upcoming Tuesday opening, will be in SoHo with a “Vintage American Collection” theme. Exclusive products from former Shopbop fashion director Kate Ciepluch, Monica Botkier, Dudine, Cynthia Dugan, and Theodra & Callum will all be showcased on the store’s shelves. Nine West also plans on reopening its Lexington Avenue location where nine different merchandised walls will present the Nine West brand.
Style Awards Set for September 5th
The Stage at New York’s Lincoln Center will hold the Style Awards this upcoming Wednesday. The ninth annual event will have red-carpet walkers like Iman and Donald Trump strutting their stuff. Many designers, from Vera Wang to Carolina Herrera, plan to attend despite the fact that New York Fashion Week is right around the corner. The event will award a breakthrough designer, model, celebrity stylist, designer, accessories designer, and athlete. Thanks to Penske Media Corporation, Style Media, and IMG Fashion, the companies holding the show, the event will showcase the best of what the fashion industry has to offer.
