A.P.C.’s Collaboration with Nike
A.P.C. has collaborated with Nike footwear for the brand’s first ever-unisex line. The collection launched worldwide on the A.P.C. web site, and includes the Nike Dunk and the Nike Air Max. The shoes have the typical A.P.C feel, “a little more sleek and a lot more chic..”
Jean Touitou, A.P.C.’s founder, stated after being asked which celebrities he thought would be wearing the shoes come fall, “I’m not a cult leader, either. I just really try to make nice things and I have no clue of who’s going to use it. I’m really not that obsessive.”
J.C. Penny Moves Ahead with Martha Stewart
A judge ruled that Penny’s can move ahead with the Martha Stewart shops next spring. This is not good news for Terry J. Lundgren, CEO of Macy’s, who sued Penny’s this month to stop it form selling home good brands. Penny’s Lawyer, Mark Epstein, said the real problem Macy’s has is that Penny’s is on the rise and transforming.
Under Johnson’s guidance, chief executive officer, Penny’s has eliminated coupons and is changing the department store layout of the store to be a group of specialty shops.
Oscar de la Renta Launch a Six Set Fragrance
Oscar de la Renta is very serious about his fragrance. He is launching Essential Luxuries, a set of six women’s scents scheduled to launch in September. He has created the collection based on his most loved people, places and things. When Oscar de la Renta was asked why he chose six scents opposed to one, he said “We don’t change the way we look on a daily basis, but we may want to change the way we smell.” He continued on to say, “A woman now wants to represent herself in many different ways, at different times. There is a world that is wide open to women, with a lot of choices. I no longer think a woman is married to one fragrance.”
