Summary: Sister and brother designing duo Nicholas and Christopher Kunz served up an impressive, yet minimalist nomad meets Harry Potter (in reference to the over-sized round frames worn by some of the models) Nicholas K collection for Spring ’13. The designers, known for an earthy color palette and layered silhouettes have hit their stride. By now I can expertly spot a Nicholas K “look.” Both women’s and menswear were presented, but we are only going to touch on the items we would wear…the women’s. I for one am a huge fan of layering and draping, and this is where the collection excelled.
Silk trousers, shorts and dresses paired with anoraks or cropped leathers jackets were not necessarily new, but covetable. The knit dress and Zella sweater were probably my least favorite looks, but you can’t hit everything out of the park, can you? The rust silk dresses, shorts and jackets more than made up for it. As for the show-stopping stained glass necklaces, where can I get one? Nicholas K has become a soothing show with which to start the Fashion Week mayhem. Some people like eggs for breakfast, others prefer yogurt or a bagel, but I’ll take Special K.
