Summary: Aside from the clothes, the most exciting thing about a Michael Kors is is celeb packed front row. Olivia Munn, Katharine McPhee, Camilla Belle and Marisa Tomei were all prominent, but when I saw Catherine Zeta-Jones walk in with her husband Michael Douglas in tow, I have to admit, I was pretty excited. Then when the lights dimmed I recognized the song after the first few beats to be New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle, but in an even more uptempo remix, I knew I was in for a treat! He could have walked togas down the runway and I would have had a good time.
Yet the first looks out of the gate were stripes. And lots of them! The Michael Kors Spring ’13 collection was about “geometric glamour”, where east coast meets west coast (Palm Springs) in the 60’s with some Tommy Hilfiger preppiness sprinkled in! If you are into primary colors, graphic prints, stripes, bold color blocking and digital prints of clouds and pools tied together with mod 1960s belts, then THIS collection is for you. There were a few crop tops, bold stripes paired with bold stripes and the requisite flowing black gowns. It’s clear Mr. Kors wants us all to welcome spring with a spectacular, tailored spring coat…in every primary color. The cloud print items were my least favorite looks, and much of the clothing was a little too preppy for my blood. However, I would love to own one or more of the spring coats, a few of the shits, one of the fab mod belts and if I had a body like Karlie Kloss who wore the final black double face crepe gown, I would wear it in a heartbeat.
