This past Friday, just in step with New York Fashion Week, Akris debuted its Fall/Winter 2012 collection and celebrated its 90th anniversary a Public Hotel in Chicago. The small but incredibly classy cocktail party was hosted by Neiman Marcus and took place at the Ava Room on the 17th floor. The crisp white decor and beautiful outside veranda overlooking the Second City was the perfect backdrop for the event. Overall, it was very low key but perfectly executed as the models wore pieces from the new collection and mingled with the crowd. All together there were ten ready-to-wear looks featured during the cocktail reception, which were all beautifully constructed of luxurious fabrics. In talking with the rep for Akris, I learned that designer Albert Kriemler’s inspiration for this year comes from the geometric shapes and color blocking styles in well-known artist, Franz Kline’s artwork. Additionally, the deep hues of greens and browns reflected the inspiration of nature throughout the pieces. Check out all of the pieces featured below.
