I’ve been hearing reports from various fashion media publications that not enough A-list celebrities have been attending New York Fashion Week. This may have been true in the past, but certainly not this year when stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Kirsten Dunst, Diane Kruger, and Kim Kardashian have decided to sit in on shows. (OK, it’s up to you if you really think Kim Kardashian is A-list, but I have to mention her.)
Is it the return of top American model Karlie Kloss? She opened and closed many a show this season. Is it the collections themselves, which have had many raving more so than seasons past? Or is it just that celebrities have decided they want to throw their support behind certain designers (I thought Diane Kruger was a Chanel girl, but apparently she’s a Calvin Klein girl too!)
We’re not here to tell you why they came–only show you that they did! Here’s a wrap-up of celebs that came, saw and conquered New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013.
Most Recurring Stars
While stars like Kelly Osbourne and Allyson Williams (Girls) made more than one appearance, it was the sight of Hailee Steinfeld, who showed up at many runways this season, that had us wondering –when did she become the girl that wants every piece from every designer? The great thing about Steinfeld, though, is that she showed versatility and truly paid homage to each designer by dressing differently at every show.
Hailee hit up nine shows this season including Peter Som, Erin Fetherston, Prabal Gurung, Rag & Bone, Diane von Furstenberg, Chris Benz, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, and Rachel Antonoff. My favorite look for Hailee is the electric blue number up top at Chris Benz.
Also seen at many a show — Lauren Conrad — who went to the Kate Spade presentation, posed at Lela Rose, and looked good in green at Tracey Reese. She went to Rachel Comey and Rebecca Minkoff. She was also in the front row at Badgley Mischka with Kat Bowden and a Jonas!
Stars at The Shows
Later in the week, soon after Sarah Jessica Parker’s star-studded appearance with designer Oscar de la Renta and Google co-founder Sergey Brin at Diane von Furstenberg, stars started appearing in droves. While we don’t really count Jenna Dewan as an A-lister, she IS getting a name thanks her to studly husband Channing Tatum. Also seen: Kirsten Dunst at Rodarte, Jessica Alba and Olivia Wilde at Ralph Lauren, Amy Adams, Emma Stone and Diane Kruger at Calvin Klein, Catherine Zeta-Jones at Michael Kors and more.
And of course, who could forget Kim and Kanye at Marchesa…
Let’s not forget to mention that Tyra Banks, Stacey Keibler, Michele Trachtenberg, Rachel Roy, and Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) were also there.
Most Celeb-Heavy Show
Michael Kors was by far the most packed celebrity show. Stars showing up to support Michael Kors wearable fashion in luxe fabrics included Olivia Munn, Camille Belle, Katherine McPhee, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Marisa Tomei, Nina Arianda, and Lauren Remington Platt.
Shows packed with celebrities included Diane von Furstenberg, Rebecca Minkoff and Badgley Mischka.
With stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Emma Stone in the front row, the A-listers were in abundance at this season’s New York Fashion Week!
