Style Sleuth: Fall Into Luxury

September 24, 2012 • Magazine, Style Sleuth

Is it just me or is everyone feeling the sudden chill of the fall season? It seemed as if just two weeks ago, it was extremely hot and sweaty just wearing a tank top and wrap skirt. Now, the wind is whipping and I’m wondering where my favorite wool coat is! However, one of my favorite things about fall is that I get to wear all of my favorite luxurious pieces!

Suede, jacquard and velvet just don’t have the same impact as they do any other time of the year (not to mention they’re super hot to wear on a daily basis). Can you wear these fabrics in the warmer months and during a Chicago winter? Forget about it! If you don’t break your neck on black ice wearing those suede wedges, you will most definitely ruin the finish. Printed trench coats only look chic if you’re not shivering and turning a nice shade of blue.

This season, jewel tones are very big so expect those suede and velvet pieces to look even more plush in oxblood, emerald or royal purple hues. And it helps that not all luxury has to come with a steep price tag! Some of these items probably cost less than your weekly grocery bill. Though some things will never go down in price (I’m looking at you Givenchy bag), they are investment pieces that will never go out of style. You’ll want to wear them all year round, despite the changing weather. So, get out that velvet jacket!
